What happened
EMA updated its public Wegovy information after the European procedure adding semaglutide tablets as an alternative to the injectable presentation for certain adults.
What we know
The regulatory page clearly distinguishes the formulations. Tablets are described for adults within the authorised weight-management indication, alongside a reduced-calorie diet and physical activity. Assessment documentation was published on 26 August.
What does not change
An oral formulation does not make the medicine suitable for everyone or automatically extend tablet use to adolescents. Commercial availability may also differ by country.
Why it matters
The change adds a route of administration to the European authorisation. Current product information, rather than assumed practical equivalence between formulations, determines indications, contraindications and warnings.
