Continuation and withdrawal
What can happen after stopping Mounjaro?
What a specific withdrawal study observed, what it cannot predict, and why this is not a stopping plan.
What the study observed
SURMOUNT-4 compared continued tirzepatide with switching to placebo after an initial treatment period. On average, the switch group regained weight during the following 52 weeks while the continuation group maintained and extended the initial reduction.
Group averages do not predict how much or how quickly an individual will change.
Important limits
The population, dose, design and follow-up were defined by the study. Funding and declared conflicts must be considered. The findings do not prescribe tapering, dose changes or an alternative treatment.
Do not use this page as a stopping instruction
Discuss continuation or withdrawal with the clinician responsible for your care, particularly when symptoms or another health concern are involved.
