What can happen after stopping Wegovy?
What a specific withdrawal study observed, what it cannot predict, and why this is not a stopping plan.
What the study observed
The STEP 1 extension followed a subset for one year after semaglutide 2.4 mg and lifestyle intervention were withdrawn. On average, participants regained about two-thirds of their prior weight loss.
Group averages do not predict how much or how quickly an individual will change.
Important limits
The population, dose, design and follow-up were defined by the study. Funding and declared conflicts must be considered. The findings do not prescribe tapering, dose changes or an alternative treatment.
